Synopsis: The Armenian Apostolic Church (sometimes called the Armenian Orthodox Church) is the world's oldest national church having been founded in 301. The Apostolic Church separated from the then-still-united Roman Catholic/Byzantine Orthodox church in 451, after the Council of Chalcedon over the issue of the nature of Christ. It is in communion with the other Eastern Oriental churches including the Coptic Church.
