Ecumenism, pluralism and interfaith dialogue are all subjects and ideas that have been gaining momentum in recent decades. Ecumenism is the movement of unifying Christian denominations. It makes sense in theory because the church is one body in Christ and so all Christians are unified in that sense. However, in practical terms, there are many problems that mean denomination divisions will continue. Many Christian denominations are also actively pursuing discussions with leaders of other religions. The Roman Catholic Church has been particularly involved in dialogue with other religious groups since the Second Vatican Council.
