Many of the core beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church are shared by other Christian groups, such as the belief in the Trinity and salvation through Jesus Christ. Its teaching is taken from three sources: the Bible, church tradition and papal statements. The Catechism of the Catholic Church gives a rather account of its beliefs. Some of its teaching are not accepted by many Christians however, including that it teaches justification through faith and works and that existence of purgatory and mortal and venial sins.
