Welcome to WikiChristian! God bless you. St. Peter's BasilicaFrom WikiChristian
The Basilica of Saint Peter (Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano) is a famous Roman Catholic cathedral in the Vatican in Rome. Its dome (Michaelangelo's dome) is also the dominant feature of the Roman skyline. It has a capacity of over 60,000 people. It is traditionally the burial site of basilica namesake, the Apostle Peter, who was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, and later, by tradition, believed to be the first Bishop of Rome. Construction on the current basilica began on April 18, 1506 and was completed in 1626, and was built over the Constantinian basilica. HistoryArchitectural detailsTourismQuotesLinks
