Hebrew ויהיו לנסות בם את־ישראל לדעת הישמעו את־מצות יהוה אשר־צוה את־אבותם ביד־משה׃
Greek και εγενετο ωστε πειρασαι εν αυτοις τον ισραηλ γνωναι ει ακουσονται τας εντολας κυριου ας ενετειλατο τοις πατρασιν αυτων εν χειρι
Latin Dimisitque eos, ut in ipsis experiretur Israëlem, utrum audiret mandata Domini quæ præceperat patribus eorum per manum Moysi, an non.
KJV And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
