Proverbs 29 Text (WEB)
  1. He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy.
  2. When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
  3. Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.
  4. The king by justice makes the land stable, but he who takes bribes tears it down.
  5. A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.
  6. An evil man is snared by his sin, but the righteous can sing and be glad.
  7. The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren't concerned about knowledge.
  8. Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.
  9. If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, the fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace.
  10. The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; and they seek the life of the upright.
  11. A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.
  12. If a ruler listens to lies, all of his officials are wicked.
  13. The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Yahweh gives sight to the eyes of both.
  14. The king who fairly judges the poor, his throne shall be established forever.
  15. The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.
  16. When the wicked increase, sin increases; but the righteous will see their downfall.
  17. Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul.
  18. Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed.
  19. A servant can't be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.
  20. Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
  21. He who pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end.
  22. An angry man stirs up strife, and a wrathful man abounds in sin.
  23. A man's pride brings him low, but one of lowly spirit gains honor.
  24. Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify.
  25. The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.
  26. Many seek the ruler's favor, but a man's justice comes from Yahweh.
  27. A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.

  1. איש תוכחות מקשה־ערף פתע ישבר ואין מרפא׃
  2. ברבות צדיקים ישמח העם ובמשל רשע יאנח עם׃
  3. איש־אהב חכמה ישמח אביו ורעה זונות יאבד־הון׃
  4. מלך במשפט יעמיד ארץ ואיש תרומות יהרסנה׃
  5. גבר מחליק על־רעהו רשת פורש על־פעמיו׃
  6. בפשע איש רע מוקש וצדיק ירון ושמח׃
  7. ידע צדיק דין דלים רשע לא־יבין דעת׃
  8. אנשי לצון יפיחו קריה וחכמים ישיבו אף׃
  9. איש־חכם נשפט את־איש אויל ורגז ושחק ואין נחת׃
  10. אנשי דמים ישנאו־תם וישרים יבקשו נפשו׃
  11. כל־רוחו יוציא כסיל וחכם באחור ישבחנה׃
  12. משל מקשיב על־דבר־שקר כל־משרתיו רשעים׃
  13. רש ואיש תככים נפגשו מאיר־עיני שניהם יהוה׃
  14. מלך שופט באמת דלים כסאו לעד יכון׃
  15. שבט ותוכחת יתן חכמה ונער משלח מביש אמו׃
  16. ברבות רשעים ירבה־פשע וצדיקים במפלתם יראו׃
  17. יסר בנך ויניחך ויתן מעדנים לנפשך׃ ף
  18. באין חזון יפרע עם ושמר תורה אשרהו׃
  19. בדברים לא־יוסר עבד כי־יבין ואין מענה׃
  20. חזית איש אץ בדבריו תקוה לכסיל ממנו׃
  21. מפנק מנער עבדו ואחריתו יהיה מנון׃
  22. איש־אף יגרה מדון ובעל חמה רב־פשע׃
  23. גאות אדם תשפילנו ושפל־רוח יתמך כבוד׃
  24. חולק עם־גנב שונא נפשו אלה ישמע ולא יגיד׃
  25. חרדת אדם יתן מוקש ובוטח ביהוה ישגב׃
  26. רבים מבקשים פני־מושל ומיהוה משפט־איש׃
  27. תועבת צדיקים איש עול ותועבת רשע ישר־דרך׃ ף

  1. κρεισσων ανηρ ελεγχων ανδρος σκληροτραχηλου εξαπινης γαρ φλεγομενου αυτου ουκ εστιν
  2. εγκωμιαζομενων δικαιων ευφρανθησονται λαοι αρχοντων δε ασεβων στενουσιν
  3. ανδρος φιλουντος σοφιαν ευφραινεται πατηρ αυτου ος δε ποιμαινει πορνας απολει
  4. βασιλευς δικαιος ανιστησιν χωραν ανηρ δε παρανομος
  5. ος παρασκευαζεται επι προσωπον του εαυτου φιλου δικτυον περιβαλλει αυτο τοις εαυτου
  6. αμαρτανοντι ανδρι μεγαλη παγις δικαιος δε εν χαρα και εν ευφροσυνη
  7. επισταται δικαιος κρινειν πενιχροις ο δε ασεβης ου συνησει γνωσιν και πτωχω ουχ υπαρχει νους
  8. ανδρες λοιμοι εξεκαυσαν πολιν σοφοι δε απεστρεψαν
  9. ανηρ σοφος κρινει εθνη ανηρ δε φαυλος οργιζομενος καταγελαται και ου
  10. ανδρες αιματων μετοχοι μισησουσιν οσιον οι δε ευθεις εκζητησουσιν ψυχην
  11. ολον τον θυμον αυτου εκφερει αφρων σοφος δε ταμιευεται κατα
  12. βασιλεως υπακουοντος λογον αδικον παντες οι υπ' αυτον
  13. δανιστου και χρεοφειλετου αλληλοις συνελθοντων επισκοπην ποιειται αμφοτερων ο
  14. βασιλεως εν αληθεια κρινοντος πτωχους ο θρονος αυτου εις μαρτυριον
  15. πληγαι και ελεγχοι διδοασιν σοφιαν παις δε πλανωμενος αισχυνει γονεις
  16. πολλων οντων ασεβων πολλαι γινονται αμαρτιαι οι δε δικαιοι εκεινων πιπτοντων καταφοβοι
  17. παιδευε υιον σου και αναπαυσει σε και δωσει κοσμον τη ψυχη
  18. ου μη υπαρξη εξηγητης εθνει παρανομω ο δε φυλασσων τον νομον
  19. λογοις ου παιδευθησεται οικετης σκληρος εαν γαρ και νοηση αλλ' ουχ
  20. εαν ιδης ανδρα ταχυν εν λογοις γινωσκε οτι ελπιδα εχει μαλλον αφρων
  21. ος κατασπαταλα εκ παιδος οικετης εσται εσχατον δε οδυνηθησεται εφ'
  22. ανηρ θυμωδης ορυσσει νεικος ανηρ δε οργιλος εξωρυξεν
  23. υβρις ανδρα ταπεινοι τους δε ταπεινοφρονας ερειδει δοξη
  24. ος μεριζεται κλεπτη μισει την εαυτου ψυχην εαν δε ορκου προτεθεντος ακουσαντες μη
  25. φοβηθεντες και αισχυνθεντες ανθρωπους υπεσκελισθησαν ο δε πεποιθως επι κυριον ευφρανθησεται ασεβεια ανδρι διδωσιν σφαλμα ος δε πεποιθεν επι τω δεσποτη
  26. πολλοι θεραπευουσιν προσωπα ηγουμενων παρα δε κυριου γινεται το δικαιον
  27. βδελυγμα δικαιοις ανηρ αδικος βδελυγμα δε ανομω κατευθυνουσα

  1. Viro qui corripientem dura cervice contemnit, repentinus ei superveniet interitus, et eum sanitas non sequetur.
  2. In multiplicatione justorum lætabitur vulgus ; cum impii sumpserint principatum, gemet populus.
  3. Vir qui amat sapientiam lætificat patrem suum ; qui autem nutrit scorta perdet substantiam.
  4. Rex justus erigit terram ; vir avarus destruet eam.
  5. Homo qui blandis fictisque sermonibus loquitur amico suo rete expandit gressibus ejus.
  6. Peccantem virum iniquum involvet laqueus, et justus laudabit atque gaudebit.
  7. Novit justus causam pauperum ; impius ignorat scientiam.
  8. Homines pestilentes dissipant civitatem, sapientes vero avertunt furorem.
  9. Vir sapiens si cum stulto contenderit, sive irascatur, sive rideat, non inveniet requiem.
  10. Viri sanguinem oderunt simplicem ; justi autem quærunt animam ejus.
  11. Totum spiritum suum profert stultus ; sapiens differt, et reservat in posterum.
  12. Princeps qui libenter audit verba mendacii, omnes ministros habet impios.
  13. Pauper et creditor obviaverunt sibi : utriusque illuminator est Dominus.
  14. Rex qui judicat in veritate pauperes, thronus ejus in æternum firmabitur.
  15. Virga atque correptio tribuit sapientiam ; puer autem qui dimittitur voluntati suæ confundit matrem suam.
  16. In multiplicatione impiorum multiplicabuntur scelera, et justi ruinas eorum videbunt.
  17. Erudi filium tuum, et refrigerabit te, et dabit delicias animæ tuæ.
  18. Cum prophetia defecerit, dissipabitur populus ; qui vero custodit legem beatus est.
  19. Servus verbis non potest erudiri, quia quod dicis intelligit, et respondere contemnit.
  20. Vidisti hominem velocem ad loquendum ? stultitia magis speranda est quam illius correptio.
  21. Qui delicate a pueritia nutrit servum suum postea sentiet eum contumacem.
  22. Vir iracundus provocat rixas, et qui ad indignandum facilis est erit ad peccandum proclivior.
  23. Superbum sequitur humilitas, et humilem spiritu suscipiet gloria.
  24. Qui cum fure participat odit animam suam ; adjurantem audit, et non indicat.
  25. Qui timet hominem cito corruet ; qui sperat in Domino sublevabitur.
  26. Multi requirunt faciem principis, et judicium a Domino egreditur singulorum.
  27. Abominantur justi virum impium, et abominantur impii eos qui in recta sunt via. Verbum custodiens filius extra perditionem erit.

  1. He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
  2. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
  3. Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
  4. The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
  5. A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
  6. In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
  7. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
  8. Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
  9. If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
  10. The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
  11. A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
  12. If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
  13. The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
  14. The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
  15. The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
  16. When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
  17. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
  18. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
  19. A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
  20. Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
  21. He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
  22. An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
  23. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
  24. Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
  25. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
  26. Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
  27. An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
