Peace a general sense means a state of quiet or tranquillity; freedom from disturbance or agitation; applicable to society, to individuals, or to the temper of the mind.

In an evangelical Christian perspective, peace with God means accepting that you are sinner for we all are sinners, rebelled against God, thus disturbing the peace with God! The path to restoring peace is through accepting the salvation offered though the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross of Calvary so our sins can be forgiven and the righteousness of Jesus Christ be bestowed on us through faith. This doctrine is called justification by faith.

Christians believe that God is the source of peace. God alone is the source of peace, for he is "Yahweh Shalom" (see Judges 6:24 ).
