The Greek Orthodox Church or Greek Church is the Eastern Orthodox Church in Greece. It traces its roots to the Byzantine Empire. The ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople was the administrator of the church during the time of the Byzantine Empire to even during the time of the rule of the Islamic Ottoman Empire. Today, it is the established church of Greece.
