The Greek Orthodox Church or Greek Church is the [[Eastern Orthodox Church]] in Greece.
 It traces its roots to the time of Byzantine Empire.  The ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople was the administrator of the church during the time of the Byzantine Empire to . This was maintained for the church even during the time of the rule of the Islamic Ottoman Empire.  Today, it is the established church of Greece.
