The Old Earth Theory most commonly dismisses the first 11 chapters of Genesis as metaphorical history.
In this view, the reader takes a metaphorical view of Creation. It stands in contrast to the New Earth Theory which believes in a literal view of Creation.
The Old Earth Theory is the most common view of Creation among most branches of Christianity except Western Protestantism. It's also the most scientifically-based theory, usually accompanied with a belief in the Big Bang Theory, in which a Belgien Priest is known for establishing.
