Template:Documentation

Usage

This template adds a concise description of an article. Place it near the beginning of the page, normally immediately below {{DISPLAYTITLE:...}} when that template is used.

{{Short description|Christian service performed in the name of Jesus Christ}}

The description should:

  • briefly identify the subject;
  • normally remain under 160 characters;
  • use sentence case;
  • not end with a period;
  • avoid promotional language;
  • not duplicate the article title unnecessarily.

Examples

{{Short description|Service offered to God and others in the name of Jesus Christ}}
{{Short description|Central religious text of Christianity}}
{{Short description|Christian practice of communicating with God}}

The description is hidden in the main article display but remains available in the page markup for skins, extensions, search tools and other automated systems that recognize the shortdescription class.
