This verse records the prophetic words uttered by [[Caiaphas]], the high priest, regarding the death of [[Jesus]]. Caiaphas is of course suggesting that the Jewish leadership should execute Jesus so that a revolution does not begin and the Romans come and destroy the temple. Commentary

This verse records the prophetic words uttered by Caiaphas, the high priest, regarding the death of Jesus. Caiaphas is of course suggesting that the Jewish leadership should execute Jesus so that a revolution does not begin and the Romans come and destroy the temple. He did not understand that he was actually stating what Jesus' intent was - to die for the nation so that their sins could be forgiven.
