The Apostolic Church separated from the then-still-united Roman Catholic/Byzantine Orthodox church in 451, after the [[Council of Chalcedon]] over the issue of the [[nature of Christ]]. It is in communion with the other [[Eastern Oriental]] churches including the [[Coptic Church]].
