== Commentary ==
 
This verse records the prophetic words uttered by [[Caiaphas]], the high priest, regarding the death of [[Jesus]]. Caiaphas is of course suggesting that the Jewish leadership should execute Jesus so that a revolution does not begin and the Romans come and destroy the temple. He did not understand that he was actually stating what Jesus' intent was - to die for the nation so that their sins could be forgiven.
