A tithe is a one-tenth of something (usually money) paid as a voltunary contribution to support a church. Some churches teach that giving one-tenth of one's income is a requirement for its members/ Other churches do not emphasize tithes but rather emphasize that all material goods and money of a Christian ultimately belong to God and so each Christian should give to the church and other charities according to what he believes God is asking of him.
