The name which the [[Text:EBD:Jew|Jews ]] gave in their proper tongue, i.e., in [[Text:EBD:wikipedia:Aramaic|Aramaic]], to the [[Field|field ]] which was purchased with the [[Text:EBD:Money|money ]] which had been given to the betrayer of our [[Text:EBD:Lord|Lord]]. The word means "field of [[Text:EBD:Blood|blood]]." It was previously called "the [[Text:EBD:Potters field|potter's field]]" (Matt. 27:7, 8; Acts 1:19), and was appropriated as the [[Text:EBD:Burial|burial]]-place for [[Text:EBD:Stranger|strangers]]. It lies on a narrow level terrace on the [[Text:EBD:South|south ]] face of the [[Text:EBD:Valley|valley ]] of [[Text:EBD:Hinnom|Hinnom]]. Its modern name is Hak ed-damm.
