Gregory lived from AD 329 to 25 January 389. He is sometimes known as Saint Gregory the Theologian. The [[Eastern Orthodox Church]] considers him one of the Three Holy Hierarchs, together with his friend [[Basil the Great]] and [[John Chrysostom]]. Basil, Gregory Nazianzus, and Basil's brother [[Gregory of Nyssa]] are called the [[Cappadocian Fathers]]. The [[Roman Catholic Church]] considers him a saint and a [[Doctor of the Church]].
