In 1905, Ferdinand Zecca and Lucien Nonguet co-directed [[La vie et la passion de Jésus Christ]]. This film was the first production to features the life of Christ on the big screen. The following decade [[Cecil B. DeMill]] became famous for making films with religious themes. With the film [[The Ten Commandments (1923 film)|The Ten Commandments]] (1923) DeMill brought Christian filmaking to a new level.
