Matthew 26:28 records the words of Jesus during the Last Supper where he reminds us that his blood is shed for the forgiveness of our sins. He has already broken the bread and given this to his disciples. That night is remembered by Christians in the practice of Holy Communion.

For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.
