Isaiah 32 - Versions
Isaiah 32 Text (WEB)
  1. Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in justice.
  2. A man shall be as a hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the storm, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a large rock in a weary land.
  3. The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
  4. The heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.
  5. The fool will no longer be called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
  6. For the fool will speak folly, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice profanity, and to utter error against Yahweh, To make empty the soul of the hungry, and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
  7. The ways of the scoundrel are evil. He devises wicked devices to destroy the humble with lying words, even when the needy speaks right.
  8. But the noble devises noble things; and he will continue in noble things.
  9. Rise up, you women who are at ease! Hear my voice! You careless daughters, give ear to my speech!
  10. For days beyond a year you will be troubled, you careless women; for the vintage shall fail. The harvest won't come.
  11. Tremble, you women who are at ease! Be troubled, you careless ones! Strip yourselves, make yourselves naked, and put sackcloth on your waist.
  12. Beat your breasts for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.
  13. Thorns and briars will come up on my people's land; yes, on all the houses of joy in the joyous city.
  14. For the palace will be forsaken. The populous city will be deserted. The hill and the watchtower will be for dens forever, a delight for wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;
  15. Until the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest.
  16. Then justice will dwell in the wilderness; and righteousness will remain in the fruitful field.
  17. The work of righteousness will be peace; and the effect of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever.
  18. My people will live in a peaceful habitation, in safe dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
  19. Though hail flattens the forest, and the city is leveled completely.
  20. Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, who send out the feet of the ox and the donkey.

  1. הן לצדק ימלך־מלך ולשרים למשפט ישרו׃
  2. והיה־איש כמחבא־רוח וסתר זרם כפלגי־מים בציון כצל סלע־כבד בארץ עיפה׃
  3. ולא תשעינה עיני ראים ואזני שמעים תקשבנה׃
  4. ולבב נמהרים יבין לדעת ולשון עלגים תמהר לדבר צחות׃
  5. לא־יקרא עוד לנבל נדיב ולכילי לא יאמר שוע׃
  6. כי נבל נבלה ידבר ולבו יעשה־און לעשות חנף ולדבר אל־יהוה תועה להריק נפש רעב ומשקה צמא יחסיר׃
  7. וכלי כליו רעים הוא זמות יעץ לחבל באמרי־שקר ובדבר אביון משפט׃
  8. ונדיב נדיבות יעץ והוא על־נדיבות יקום׃ ף
  9. נשים שאננות קמנה שמענה קולי בנות בטחות האזנה אמרתי׃
  10. ימים על־שנה תרגזנה בטחות כי כלה בציר אסף בלי יבוא׃
  11. חרדו שאננות רגזה בטחות פשטה וערה וחגורה על־חלצים׃
  12. על־שדים ספדים על־שדי־חמד על־גפן פריה׃
  13. על אדמת עמי קוץ שמיר תעלה כי על־כל־בתי משוש קריה עליזה׃
  14. כי־ארמון נטש המון עיר עזב עפל ובחן היה בעד מערות עד־עולם משוש פראים מרעה עדרים׃
  15. עד־יערה עלינו רוח ממרום והיה מדבר לכרמל ליער יחשב׃

  1. ιδου γαρ βασιλευς δικαιος βασιλευσει και αρχοντες μετα κρισεως
  2. και εσται ο ανθρωπος κρυπτων τους λογους αυτου και κρυβησεται ως αφ' υδατος φερομενου και φανησεται εν σιων ως ποταμος φερομενος ενδοξος εν γη
  3. και ουκετι εσονται πεποιθοτες επ' ανθρωποις αλλα τα ωτα δωσουσιν
  4. και η καρδια των ασθενουντων προσεξει του ακουειν και αι γλωσσαι αι ψελλιζουσαι ταχυ μαθησονται λαλειν
  5. και ουκετι μη ειπωσιν τω μωρω αρχειν και ουκετι μη ειπωσιν οι υπηρεται σου
  6. ο γαρ μωρος μωρα λαλησει και η καρδια αυτου ματαια νοησει του συντελειν ανομα και λαλειν προς κυριον πλανησιν του διασπειραι ψυχας πεινωσας και τας ψυχας τας διψωσας κενας
  7. η γαρ βουλη των πονηρων ανομα βουλευσεται καταφθειραι ταπεινους εν λογοις αδικοις και διασκεδασαι λογους ταπεινων εν
  8. οι δε ευσεβεις συνετα εβουλευσαντο και αυτη η βουλη
  9. γυναικες πλουσιαι αναστητε και ακουσατε της φωνης μου θυγατερες εν ελπιδι ακουσατε τους λογους
  10. ημερας ενιαυτου μνειαν ποιησασθε εν οδυνη μετ' ελπιδος ανηλωται ο τρυγητος πεπαυται ο σπορος και ουκετι μη
  11. εκστητε λυπηθητε αι πεποιθυιαι εκδυσασθε γυμναι γενεσθε περιζωσασθε σακκους τας
  12. και επι των μαστων κοπτεσθε απο αγρου επιθυμηματος και αμπελου

  1. Ecce in justitia regnabit rex, et principes in judicio præerunt.
  2. Et erit vir sicut qui absconditur a vento, et celat se a tempestate ; sicut rivi aquarum in siti, et umbra petræ prominentis in terra deserta.
  3. Non caligabunt oculi videntium, et aures audientium diligenter auscultabunt.
  4. Et cor stultorum intelliget scientiam, et lingua balborum velociter loquetur et plane.
  5. Non vocabitur ultra is qui insipiens est, princeps, neque fraudulentus appellabitur major ;
  6. stultus enim fatua loquetur, et cor ejus faciet iniquitatem, ut perficiat simulationem, et loquatur ad Dominum fraudulenter, et vacuam faciat animam esurientis, et potum sitienti auferat.
  7. Fraudulenti vasa pessima sunt ; ipse enim cogitationes concinnavit ad perdendos mites in sermone mendacii, cum loqueretur pauper judicium.
  8. Princeps vero ea quæ digna sunt principe cogitabit, et ipse super duces stabit.
  9. Mulieres opulentæ, surgite, et audite vocem meam ; filiæ confidentes, percipite auribus eloquium meum.
  10. Post dies enim et annum, vos conturbabimini confidentes ; consummata est enim vindemia, collectio ultra non veniet.
  11. Obstupescite, opulentæ ; conturbamini, confidentes : exuite vos et confundimini ; accingite lumbos vestros.
  12. Super ubera plangite, super regione desiderabili, super vinea fertili.
  13. Super humum populi mei spinæ et vepres ascendent : quanto magis super omnes domos gaudii civitatis exultantis !
  14. Domus enim dimissa est, multitudo urbis relicta est, tenebræ et palpatio factæ sunt super speluncas usque in æternum ; gaudium onagrorum, pascua gregum.
  15. Donec effundatur super nos spiritus de excelso, et erit desertum in carmel, et carmel in saltum reputabitur.
  16. Et habitabit in solitudine judicium, et justitia in carmel sedebit.
  17. Et erit opus justitiæ pax, et cultus justitiæ silentium, et securitas usque in sempiternum.

  2. And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
  3. And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.
  4. The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.
  5. The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.
  6. For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
  7. The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.
  8. But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.
  9. Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
  10. Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
  11. Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.
  12. They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.
  13. Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:
  14. Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;
  15. Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.
  16. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
  17. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
  18. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
  19. When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.
  20. Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.
