Romans 8 Text (WEB) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. Those who are in the flesh can't please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God. For you didn't receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us. For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for that which he sees? But if we hope for that which we don't see, we wait for it with patience. In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. He who searches the hearts knows what is on the Spirit's mind, because he makes intercession for the saints according to God. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Whom he predestined, those he also called. Whom he called, those he also justified. Whom he justified, those he also glorified. What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who didn't spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? Who could bring a charge against God's chosen ones? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter." No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8 Text (Hebrew) על כן אין אשמה באלה אשר הם במשיח ישוע המתהלכים בלא כבשר כי אם לפי הרוח׃ כי תורת רוח החיים במשיח ישוע שחררה אתי מתורת החטא והמות׃ כי מה שלא יכלה התורה לעשות הנחלשה על יד הבשר עשה האלהים בשלחו את בנו בתואר בשר החטא ובעד החטא וירשיע את החטא בבשר׃ למען תמלא חקת התורה בנו המתהלכים בלא כבשר כי אם לפי הרוח׃ כי אשר המה לבשר בעניני הבשר יחשבו ואשר לרוח בעניני הרוח יחשבו׃ כי מחשבת הבשר היא המות ומחשבת הרוח היא החיים והשלום׃ יען מחשבת הבשר רק שנאת אלהים היא באשר לא תשתעבד לתורת האלהים ואף איננה יכולה׃ ואשר המה בבשר לא יוכלו להיות רצוים לאלהים׃ ואתם אינכם בבשר כי אם ברוח אם אמנם רוח האלהים שכן בקרבכם כי מי שאין בו רוח המשיח איננו שלו׃ ואם המשיח בקרבכם אז הגוף מת הוא בדבר החטא והרוח חיים הוא בדבר הצדקה׃ ואם ישכן בקרבכם רוח המעיר את ישוע מן המתים הוא אשר העיר את המשיח מן המתים גם את גויותיכם המתות יחיה על ידי רוחו השכן בקרבכם׃ לכן אחי חיבים אנחנו לא לבשר לחיות לפי הבשר׃ כי אם תחיו לפי הבשר מות תמתון ואם על ידי הרוח תמותתו את מעללי הבשר חיה תחיו׃ כי כל אשר רוח אלהים ינהגם בני אלהים המה׃ כי לא קבלתם רוח עבדות לשוב לירא כי אם קבלתם רוח משפט בנים אשר בו קראים אנחנו אבא אבינו׃ והרוח ההוא מעיד ברוחנו כי בני אלהים אנחנו׃ ואם בנים אנחנו גם ירשים נהיה ירשי אלהים וחברי המשיח בירשה אם אמנם נתענה אתו למען גם אתו נכבד׃ כי אחשב אשר ענויי הזמן הזה אינם שקולים כנגד הכבוד העתיד להגלות עלינו׃ כי הבריאה תערג ועיניה תלויות להתגלות בני אלהים׃ כי נכבשה הבריאה להבל לא מרצונה כי אם למען הכבש אתה אלי תקוה׃ אשר הבריאה גם היא תשחרר מעבדות הכליון אל חרות כבוד בני האלהים׃ כי ידענו אשר הבריאה כלה יחד תאנח ותחיל עד הנה׃ ולא זאת בלבד כי גם אנחנו אף אם יש לנו בכורי הרוח נאנח בנפשנו ונחכה למשפט הבנים פדות גויתנו׃ כי נושענו בתקוה אך התקוה הנראה לעינים איננה תקוה כי איך ייחל איש לדבר אשר הוא ראה׃ אבל אם נקוה לאשר לא ראינהו נחכה לו בסבלנות׃ וכן גם הרוח תמך אתנו בחלשותינו כי לא ידענו מה להתפלל כראוי אכן הרוח הוא מפגיע בעדנו באנחות עמקות מדבר׃ והחקר לבבות יודע את אשר יחשב הרוח כי כרצון האלהים יפגיע בעד הקדושים׃ והנה ידענו כי לאהבי אלהים הקרואים בעצתו הכל יעזר לטוב להם׃ כי את אשר ידעם מקדם אתם גם יעד מקדם להיות דומים לדמות בנו למען יהיה הבכור בתוך אחים רבים׃ ואת אשר יעדם מקדם אתם גם קרא ואת אשר קראם אתם גם הצדיק ואת אשר הצדיקם אתם גם פאר׃ ועתה מה נאמר על זאת אם האלהים לנו מי יריב אתנו׃ אשר על בנו יחידו לא חס כי אם נתנו בעד כלנו הלא גם יתן לנו עמו את הכל׃ מי יענה בבחירי אלהים הן אלהים הוא המצדיק׃ ומי הוא יאשימם הן המשיח אשר מת וביותר אשר נעור מעם המתים הוא לימין האלהים והוא יפגיע בעדנו׃ מי יפרידנו מאהבת המשיח הצרה או מצוקה או משטמה או רעב אם עריה או סכנה או חרב׃ ככתוב כי עליך הרגנו כל היום נחשבנו כצאן טבחה׃ אבל בכל אלה גברנו מאד על ידי האהב אתנו׃ ובטוח אנכי כי לא המות ולא החיים לא מלאכים ולא שררות ולא גבורות לא ההוה ולא העתיד׃ לא הרוח ולא העמק ולא כל בריה אחרת יוכלו להפרידנו מאהבת האלהים אשר היא במשיח ישוע אדנינו׃
Romans 8 Text (Greek) ουδεν αρα νυν κατακριμα τοις εν χριστω ιησου ο γαρ νομος του πνευματος της ζωης εν χριστω ιησου ηλευθερωσεν σε απο του νομου της αμαρτιας και του θανατου το γαρ αδυνατον του νομου εν ω ησθενει δια της σαρκος ο θεος τον εαυτου υιον πεμψας εν ομοιωματι σαρκος αμαρτιας και περι αμαρτιας κατεκρινεν την αμαρτιαν εν τη σαρκι ινα το δικαιωμα του νομου πληρωθη εν ημιν τοις μη κατα σαρκα περιπατουσιν αλλα κατα πνευμα οι γαρ κατα σαρκα οντες τα της σαρκος φρονουσιν οι δε κατα πνευμα τα του πνευματος το γαρ φρονημα της σαρκος θανατος το δε φρονημα του πνευματος ζωη και ειρηνη διοτι το φρονημα της σαρκος εχθρα εις θεον τω γαρ νομω του θεου ουχ υποτασσεται ουδε γαρ δυναται οι δε εν σαρκι οντες θεω αρεσαι ου δυνανται υμεις δε ουκ εστε εν σαρκι αλλα εν πνευματι ειπερ πνευμα θεου οικει εν υμιν ει δε τις πνευμα χριστου ουκ εχει ουτος ουκ εστιν αυτου ει δε χριστος εν υμιν το μεν σωμα νεκρον δια αμαρτιαν το δε πνευμα ζωη δια δικαιοσυνην ει δε το πνευμα του εγειραντος τον ιησουν εκ νεκρων οικει εν υμιν ο εγειρας τα θνητα σωματα υμων δια του ενοικουντος αυτου πνευματος εν υμιν αρα ουν αδελφοι οφειλεται εσμεν ου τη σαρκι του κατα σαρκα ζην ει γαρ κατα σαρκα ζητε μελλετε αποθνησκειν ει δε πνευματι τας πραξεις του σωματος θανατουτε ζησεσθε οσοι γαρ πνευματι θεου αγονται ουτοι υιοι θεου εισιν ου γαρ ελαβετε πνευμα δουλειας παλιν εις φοβον αλλα ελαβετε πνευμα υιοθεσιας εν ω κραζομεν αββα ο πατηρ αυτο το πνευμα συμμαρτυρει τω πνευματι ημων οτι εσμεν τεκνα θεου ει δε τεκνα και κληρονομοι κληρονομοι μεν θεου συγκληρονομοι δε χριστου ειπερ συμπασχομεν ινα και συνδοξασθωμεν λογιζομαι γαρ οτι ουκ αξια τα παθηματα του νυν καιρου προς την μελλουσαν δοξαν αποκαλυφθηναι εις ημας η γαρ αποκαραδοκια της κτισεως την αποκαλυψιν των υιων του θεου απεκδεχεται τη γαρ ματαιοτητι η κτισις υπεταγη ουχ εκουσα αλλα δια τον υποταξαντα εφ ελπιδι οτι και αυτη η κτισις ελευθερωθησεται απο της δουλειας της φθορας εις την ελευθεριαν της δοξης των τεκνων του θεου οιδαμεν γαρ οτι πασα η κτισις συστεναζει και συνωδινει αχρι του νυν ου μονον δε αλλα και αυτοι την απαρχην του πνευματος εχοντες και αυτοι εν εαυτοις στεναζομεν υιοθεσιαν απεκδεχομενοι την απολυτρωσιν του σωματος ημων τη γαρ ελπιδι εσωθημεν ελπις δε βλεπομενη ουκ εστιν ελπις ο γαρ βλεπει τις ελπιζει ει δε ο ου βλεπομεν ελπιζομεν δι υπομονης απεκδεχομεθα ωσαυτως δε και το πνευμα συναντιλαμβανεται τη ασθενεια ημων το γαρ τι προσευξωμεθα καθο δει ουκ οιδαμεν αλλα αυτο το πνευμα υπερεντυγχανει στεναγμοις αλαλητοις ο δε εραυνων τας καρδιας οιδεν τι το φρονημα του πνευματος οτι κατα θεον εντυγχανει υπερ αγιων οιδαμεν δε οτι τοις αγαπωσιν τον θεον παντα συνεργει εις αγαθον τοις κατα προθεσιν κλητοις ουσιν οτι ους προεγνω και προωρισεν συμμορφους της εικονος του υιου αυτου εις το ειναι αυτον πρωτοτοκον εν πολλοις αδελφοις ους δε προωρισεν τουτους και εκαλεσεν και ους εκαλεσεν τουτους και εδικαιωσεν ους δε εδικαιωσεν τουτους και εδοξασεν τι ουν ερουμεν προς ταυτα ει ο θεος υπερ ημων τις καθ ημων ος γε του ιδιου υιου ουκ εφεισατο αλλα υπερ ημων παντων παρεδωκεν αυτον πως ουχι και συν αυτω τα παντα ημιν χαρισεται τις εγκαλεσει κατα εκλεκτων θεου θεος ο δικαιων τις ο κατακρινων χριστος ο αποθανων μαλλον δε εγερθεις εστιν εν δεξια του θεου ος και εντυγχανει υπερ ημων τις ημας χωρισει απο της αγαπης του χριστου θλιψις η στενοχωρια η διωγμος η λιμος η γυμνοτης η κινδυνος η μαχαιρα καθως γεγραπται οτι ενεκεν σου θανατουμεθα ολην την ημεραν ελογισθημεν ως προβατα σφαγης αλλ εν τουτοις πασιν υπερνικωμεν δια του αγαπησαντος ημας πεπεισμαι γαρ οτι ουτε θανατος ουτε ζωη ουτε αγγελοι ουτε αρχαι ουτε ενεστωτα ουτε μελλοντα ουτε δυναμεις ουτε υψωμα ουτε βαθος ουτε τις κτισις ετερα δυνησεται ημας χωρισαι απο της αγαπης του θεου της εν χριστω ιησου τω κυριω ημων
Romans 8 Text (Latin) Nihil ergo nunc damnationis est iis qui sunt in Christo Jesu : qui non secundum carnem ambulant. Lex enim spiritus vitæ in Christo Jesu liberavit me a lege peccati et mortis. Nam quod impossibile erat legi, in quo infirmabatur per carnem : Deus Filium suum mittens in similitudinem carnis peccati et de peccato, damnavit peccatum in carne, et justificatio legis impleretur in nobis, qui non secundum carnem ambulamus, sed secundum spiritum. Qui enim secundum carnem sunt, quæ carnis sunt, sapiunt : qui vero secundum spiritum sunt, quæ sunt spiritus, sentiunt. Nam prudentia carnis, mors est : prudentia autem spiritus, vita et pax : quoniam sapientia carnis inimica est Deo : legi enim Dei non est subjecta, nec enim potest. Qui autem in carne sunt, Deo placere non possunt. Vos autem in carne non estis, sed in spiritu : si tamen Spiritus Dei habitat in vobis. Siquis autem Spiritum Christi non habet, hic non est ejus. Commentary

The eighth chapter of the Epistle to the Romans is one of the most beautiful and stirring passages of the Bible. It begins with the great declaration that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Jesus. It reminds us that Christian's are forgiven people whose sins have been forgiven by God. Its final verses tell us that nothing can separate us from God's great love.
