Matthew 8 Text (WEB) When he came down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Behold, a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Jesus said to him, "See that you tell nobody, but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." When he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him, and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented." Jesus said to him, "I will come and heal him." The centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and tell another, 'Come,' and he comes; and tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Most certainly I tell you, I haven't found so great a faith, not even in Israel. I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven, but the children of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed." His servant was healed in that hour. When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever. He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him. When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases." Now when Jesus saw great multitudes around him, he gave the order to depart to the other side. A scribe came, and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep. They came to him, and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord! We are dying!" He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. The men marveled, saying, "What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way. Behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them. The demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs." He said to them, "Go!" They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water. Those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, including what happened to those who were possessed with demons. Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders.
Matthew 8 Text (Hebrew) וירד מן ההר וילך אחריו המון עם רב׃ והנה איש מצרע בא וישתחו לו ויאמר אדני אם תרצה תוכל לטהרני׃ וישלח ישוע את ידו ויגע בו ויאמר חפץ אנכי טהר ומיד נרפאה צרעתו׃ ויאמר אליו ישוע ראה פן תספר לאיש כי אם לך לך והראה אל הכהן והקרב את הקרבן אשר צוה משה לעדות להם׃ ויהי כבאו אל כפר נחום ויגש אליו שר מאה אחד ויתחנן לו לאמר׃ אדני הנה נערי נפל למשכב בביתי והוא נכה אברים ומענה עד מאד׃ ויאמר ישוע אליו אבא וארפאהו׃ ויען שר המאה ויאמר אדני נקלתי מבאך בצל קורתי אך דבר נא רק דבר ונרפא נערי׃ כי אנכי איש נתון תחת השלטון וגם יש תחת ידי אנשי צבא ואמרתי לזה לך והלך ולזה בוא ובא ולעבדי עשה זאת ועשה׃ וישמע ישוע ויתמה ויאמר אל ההלכים אחריו אמן אמר אני לכם גם בישראל לא מצאתי אמונה גדולה כזאת׃ ואני אמר לכם רבים יבאו ממזרח וממערב ויסבו עם אברהם ויצחק ויעקב במלכות השמים׃ אבל בני המלכות המה יגרשו אל החשך החיצון שם תהיה היללה וחרוק השנים׃ ויאמר ישוע אל שר המאה לך וכאמונתך כן יהיה לך וירפא נערו בשעה ההיא׃ ויבא ישוע ביתה פטרוס וירא את חמותו נפלת למשכב כי אחזתה הקדחת׃ ויגע בידה ותרף ממנה הקדחת ותקם ותשרתם׃ ויהי לעת ערב ויביאו אליו רבים אחוזי שדים ויגרש את הרוחות בדבר וירפא את כל החולים׃ למלאת את אשר דבר ישעיהו הנביא לאמר חלינו הוא נשא ומכאבינו סבלם׃ ויהי כראות ישוע המון עם רב סביבתיו ויצו לעבר משם אל עבר הים׃ ויגש אליו אחד הסופרים ויאמר אליו רבי אלכה אחריך אל כל אשר תלך׃ ויאמר אליו ישוע לשועלים יש חורי עפר ולעוף השמים קנים ובן האדם אין לו מקום להניח שם את ראשו׃ ואחר מן התלמידים אמר אליו אדני הניחה לי בראשונה ללכת ולקבר את אבי׃ ויאמר אליו ישוע לך אחרי והנח למתים לקבר את מתיהם׃ וירד אל האניה וירדו אתו תלמידיו׃ והנה סער גדול היה בים ותכסה האניה בגלים והוא ישן׃ ויגשו אליו תלמידיו ויעירו אותו לאמר הושיענו אדנינו אבדנו׃ ויאמר אליהם קטני האמונה למה זה יראתם ויקם ויגער ברוחות ובים ותהי דממה גדולה׃ ויתמהו האנשים ויאמרו מי אפוא הוא אמר גם הרוחות והים לו ישמעון׃ ויהי כבאו אל עבר הים אל ארץ הגרגשים ויפגשוהו שני אנשים אחוזי שדים יצאים מבתי הקברות והמה רגונים מאד עד אשר לא יכל איש לעבר בדרך ההוא׃ והנה הם צעקים לאמר מה לנו ולך ישוע בן האלהים הבאת הלם לענותנו בלא עתנו׃ ועדר חזירים רבים היה שם במרעה הרחק מהם׃ ויתחננו אליו השדים לאמר אם תגרשנו שלחנו בעדר החזירים׃ ויאמר אליהם לכו לכם ויצאו ויבאו בעדר החזירים והנה השתער כל עדר החזירים מן המורד על הים וימותו במים׃ וינוסו הרעים ויבאו העירה ויגידו את הכל ואת אשר נעשה לאחוזי השדים׃ והנה כל העיר יצאה לקראת ישוע וכראותם אתו ויבקשו ממנו לעבר מגבולם׃
Matthew 8 Text (Greek) καταβαντος δε αυτου απο του ορους ηκολουθησαν αυτω οχλοι πολλοι και ιδου λεπρος προσελθων προσεκυνει αυτω λεγων κυριε εαν θελης δυνασαι με καθαρισαι και εκτεινας την χειρα ηψατο αυτου λεγων θελω καθαρισθητι και ευθεως εκαθαρισθη αυτου η λεπρα και λεγει αυτω ο ιησους ορα μηδενι ειπης αλλα υπαγε σεαυτον δειξον τω ιερει και προσενεγκον το δωρον ο προσεταξεν μωυσης εις μαρτυριον αυτοις εισελθοντος δε αυτου εις καφαρναουμ προσηλθεν αυτω εκατονταρχος παρακαλων αυτον και λεγων κυριε ο παις μου βεβληται εν τη οικια παραλυτικος δεινως βασανιζομενος [[Greek:|Greek:]] λεγει αυτω εγω ελθων θεραπευσω αυτον [[Greek:|Greek:]] ο εκατονταρχος εφη κυριε ουκ ειμι ικανος ινα μου υπο την στεγην εισελθης αλλα μονον ειπε λογω και ιαθησεται ο παις μου και γαρ εγω ανθρωπος ειμι υπο εξουσιαν εχων υπ εμαυτον στρατιωτας και λεγω τουτω πορευθητι και πορευεται και αλλω ερχου και ερχεται και τω δουλω μου ποιησον τουτο και ποιει ακουσας δε ο ιησους εθαυμασεν και ειπεν τοις ακολουθουσιν αμην λεγω υμιν παρ ουδενι τοσαυτην πιστιν εν τω ισραηλ ευρον λεγω δε υμιν οτι πολλοι απο ανατολων και δυσμων ηξουσιν και ανακλιθησονται μετα αβρααμ και ισαακ και ιακωβ εν τη βασιλεια των ουρανων οι δε υιοι της βασιλειας εκβληθησονται εις το σκοτος το εξωτερον εκει εσται ο κλαυθμος και ο βρυγμος των οδοντων και ειπεν ο ιησους τω εκατονταρχη υπαγε ως επιστευσας γενηθητω σοι και ιαθη ο παις εν τη ωρα εκεινη και ελθων ο ιησους εις την οικιαν πετρου ειδεν την πενθεραν αυτου βεβλημενην και πυρεσσουσαν και ηψατο της χειρος αυτης και αφηκεν αυτην ο πυρετος και ηγερθη και διηκονει αυτω οψιας δε γενομενης προσηνεγκαν αυτω δαιμονιζομενους πολλους και εξεβαλεν τα πνευματα λογω και παντας τους κακως εχοντας εθεραπευσεν οπως πληρωθη το ρηθεν δια ησαιου του προφητου λεγοντος αυτος τας ασθενειας ημων ελαβεν και τας νοσους εβαστασεν ιδων δε ο ιησους οχλον περι αυτον εκελευσεν απελθειν εις το περαν και προσελθων εις γραμματευς ειπεν αυτω διδασκαλε ακολουθησω σοι οπου εαν απερχη και λεγει αυτω ο ιησους αι αλωπεκες φωλεους εχουσιν και τα πετεινα του ουρανου κατασκηνωσεις ο δε υιος του ανθρωπου ουκ εχει που την κεφαλην κλινη ετερος δε των μαθητων ειπεν αυτω κυριε επιτρεψον μοι πρωτον απελθειν και θαψαι τον πατερα μου ο δε ιησους λεγει αυτω ακολουθει μοι και αφες τους νεκρους θαψαι τους εαυτων νεκρους και εμβαντι αυτω εις πλοιον ηκολουθησαν αυτω οι μαθηται αυτου και ιδου σεισμος μεγας εγενετο εν τη θαλασση ωστε το πλοιον καλυπτεσθαι υπο των κυματων αυτος δε εκαθευδεν και προσελθοντες ηγειραν αυτον λεγοντες κυριε σωσον απολλυμεθα και λεγει αυτοις τι δειλοι εστε ολιγοπιστοι τοτε εγερθεις επετιμησεν τοις ανεμοις και τη θαλασση και εγενετο γαληνη μεγαλη οι δε ανθρωποι εθαυμασαν λεγοντες ποταπος εστιν ουτος οτι και οι ανεμοι και η θαλασσα αυτω υπακουουσιν και ελθοντος αυτου εις το περαν εις την χωραν των γαδαρηνων υπηντησαν αυτω δυο δαιμονιζομενοι εκ των μνημειων εξερχομενοι χαλεποι λιαν ωστε μη ισχυειν τινα παρελθειν δια της οδου εκεινης και ιδου εκραξαν λεγοντες τι ημιν και σοι υιε του θεου ηλθες ωδε προ καιρου βασανισαι ημας ην δε μακραν απ αυτων αγελη χοιρων πολλων βοσκομενη οι δε δαιμονες παρεκαλουν αυτον λεγοντες ει εκβαλλεις ημας αποστειλον ημας εις την αγελην των χοιρων και ειπεν αυτοις υπαγετε οι δε εξελθοντες απηλθον εις τους χοιρους και ιδου ωρμησεν πασα η αγελη κατα του κρημνου εις την θαλασσαν και απεθανον εν τοις υδασιν οι δε βοσκοντες εφυγον και απελθοντες εις την πολιν απηγγειλαν παντα και τα των δαιμονιζομενων και ιδου πασα η πολις εξηλθεν εις υπαντησιν τω ιησου και ιδοντες αυτον παρεκαλεσαν οπως μεταβη απο των οριων αυτων
Matthew 8 Text (Latin) Cum autem descendisset de monte, secutæ sunt eum turbæ multæ : et ecce leprosus veniens, adorabat eum, dicens : Domine, si vis, potes me mundare. Et extendens Jesus manum, tetigit eum, dicens : Volo. Mundare. Et confestim mundata est lepra ejus. Et ait illi Jesus : Vide, nemini dixeris : sed vade, ostende te sacerdoti, et offer munus, quod præcepit Moyses, in testimonium illis. Cum autem introisset Capharnaum, accessit ad eum centurio, rogans eum, et dicens : Domine, puer meus jacet in domo paralyticus, et male torquetur. Et ait illi Jesus : Ego veniam, et curabo eum. Et respondens centurio, ait : Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum : sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur puer meus. Nam et ego homo sum sub potestate constitutus, habens sub me milites, et dico huic : Vade, et vadit : et alii : Veni, et venit : et servo meo : Fac hoc, et facit. Audiens autem Jesus miratus est, et sequentibus se dixit : Amen dico vobis, non inveni tantam fidem in Israël. Dico autem vobis, quod multi ab oriente et occidente venient, et recumbent cum Abraham, et Isaac, et Jacob in regno cælorum : filii autem regni ejicientur in tenebras exteriores : ibi erit fletus et stridor dentium. Et dixit Jesus centurioni : Vade, et sicut credidisti, fiat tibi. Et sanatus est puer in illa hora. Et cum venisset Jesus in domum Petri, vidit socrum ejus jacentem, et febricitantem : et tetigit manum ejus, et dimisit eam febris, et surrexit, et ministrabat eis. Vespere autem facto, obtulerunt ei multos dæmonia habentes : et ejiciebat spiritus verbo, et omnes male habentes curavit : ut adimpleretur quod dictum est per Isaiam prophetam, dicentem : Ipse infirmitates nostras accepit : et ægrotationes nostras portavit. Videns autem Jesus turbas multas circum se, jussit ire trans fretum. Et accedens unus scriba, ait illi : Magister, sequar te, quocumque ieris. Et dicit ei Jesus : Vulpes foveas habent, et volucres cæli nidos ; Filius autem hominis non habet ubi caput reclinet. Alius autem de discipulis ejus ait illi : Domine, permitte me primum ire, et sepelire patream meum. Jesus autem ait illi : Sequere me, et dimitte mortuos sepelire mortuos suos. Et ascendente eo in naviculam, secuti sunt eum discipuli ejus : et ecce motus magnus factus est in mari, ita ut navicula operiretur fluctibus, ipse vero dormiebat. Et accesserunt ad eum discipuli ejus, et suscitaverunt eum, dicentes : Domine, salva nos, perimus. Et dicit eis Jesus : Quid timidi estis, modicæ fidei ? Tunc surgens imperavit ventis, et mari, et facta est tranquillitas magna. Porro homines mirati sunt, dicentes : Qualis est hic, quia venti et mare obediunt ei ? Et cum venisset trans fretum in regionem Gerasenorum, occurrerunt ei duo habentes dæmonia, de monumentis exeuntes, sævi nimis, ita ut nemo posset transire per viam illam. Et ecce clamaverunt, dicentes : Quid nobis et tibi, Jesu fili Dei ? Venisti huc ante tempus torquere nos ? Erat autem non longe ab illis grex multorum porcorum pascens. Dæmones autem rogabant eum, dicentes : Si ejicis nos hinc, mitte nos in gregem porcorum. Et ait illis : Ite. At illi exeuntes abierunt in porcos, et ecce impetu abiit totus grex per præceps in mare : et mortui sunt in aquis. Pastores autem fugerunt : et venientes in civitatem, nuntiaverunt omnia, et de eis qui dæmonia habuerant. Et ecce tota civitas exiit obviam Jesu : et viso eo, rogabant ut transiret a finibus eorum.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time? And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters. And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
