"Eternal life" is a phrase used to describe life that is ever-lasting and continues despite physical death. The phrase "eternal life" (ζωη αιωνιος = life eternal) occurs a number of times in the New Testament and it is especially important in the Gospel of John where it is used as if it is a present reality for believers in Jesus.
