In brief: The Da Vinci Code is a fictional novel written by Dan Brown. It has sold 36 million copies (as of August 2005) and generated lots of discussion and controversy. In the book claims are made that the Roman Catholic Church has been involved in a cover-up of the true story about Jesus, who was only a moral teacher.
