Commentary

Authorship

Like the first and second Maccabees, the book's authorship is not known. Unlike the previous 2 books however, it was wrote during the first century B.C and described Jewish persecution in Egypt from the late third century B.C. Scholars generally agree the book was written in Koine Greek.
