New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It is sometimes called New York State when there is need to distinguish it from New York City. Christianity is the main religion, with 38% Roman Catholic, 7% Baptist and 6% Methodist. There is a large Jewish population also, accounting for 5% of the population.
