Jacob (Genesis)
In brief, Jacob was an important figure in the Old Testament. His story is told in the Book of Genesis. He was the son of Isaac, who was the son of Abraham. He purchased the birthright from his brother Esau for a pot of soup, and his wife Rachel from his uncle Laban in return for seven years labour. God later renamed Jacob to Israel after he wrestled with an angel, and he became the father of the Israelites.
