Saint Gregory Nazianzen or Gregori Nazianzus (AD 329 - 25 January 389), also known as Saint Gregory the Theologian, was a 4th century Christian theologian and bishop of Constantinople. The Eastern Orthodox Church considers him one of the Three Holy Hierarchs, together with his friend Basil the Great and John Chrysostom. Basil, Gregory Nazianzus, and Basil's brother Gregory of Nyssa are called the Cappadocian Fathers. The Roman Catholic Church considers him a saint and a Doctor of the Church.
