A Christian Martyr, or just a Martyr, is a person who was killed for their Christian belief. Statistics shows that Christianity is the most persecuted religious faith in the world and Martyrdom is a typical fate in many middle-eastern countries.
The very first Martyr was Stephen, who Paul of Tarsus watched being stoned in Cyprus very shortly after the Crucifixion of Jesus.
