The Council of Trent was the 19th ecumenical council of the [[Catholic Church]] which waged on for 18-years during which 25 sessions, starting on December 13, 1545 and ending on December 4, 1563. The council was prompted by the [[Protestant Reformation]] which began in 1517.

The council was held to condemn [[Heresy|heresies]] that the Catholic Church accused the [[Protestantism|Protestants]] of committing. One notable verdict of the Council of Trent was that it added [[Apocrypha|7 controversial books, and added onto 2 other books]] to the Catholic version of the [[Bible]], more specifically the [[Old Testament]].
