opinions quotesThe Torah (also known as Books of the Law; Books of Moses; or the Pentateuch) are the first five books of the Bible. The first book, Genesis, tells about the creation of the universe and God choosing a person (Abraham) to be the father of his people. The next four books (Exodus to Deuteronomy) describe God saving his people from slavery in Egypt and giving them the law by which they were to live, including the Ten Commandments. The word Torah itself actually means "teaching" or "instruction" or "law" in Hebrew.
==Main article==The Torah is considered among the holiest of religious texts to the Jews while Christians tend to emphasize the Gospels over the Books of Moses (since the Old Testament covenant no longer applies).
The Torah (or the Books of the Law) are the first five books of the Bible. The Torah is the most important document in Judaism, revered as the inspired word of God, traditionally said to have been revealed to Moses.  The word Torah means "teaching" or "instruction" or "law" in Hebrew. It is also known as the Five Books of Moses or the Law of Moses. The Torah is the first five books of the Tanakh (or Hebrew Bible) and of the Old Testament of the Bible. The five books are as follows:
* Genesis
* Exodus
Authorship
Traditionally, Moses is believed to have authored a majority of the five books. The final chapter of Deuteronomy speaks of Moses' death and was certainly written by a different author although Moses still authored a vast majority of the book and the entirety of the first 4 books.
Views on historical accuracy
Secular historians dispute some details in the the Torah, but it is generally believed a leader like Moses did in fact, exist during the 13th century B.C.
