He said to her, "Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him, 'Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.' He answered, 'I will not give you my vineyard.'"

Hebrew וידבר אליה כי־אדבר אל־נבות היזרעאלי ואמר לו תנה־לי את־כרמך בכסף או אם־חפץ אתה אתנה־לך כרם תחתיו ויאמר לא־אתן לך את־כרמי׃
Greek και ειπεν προς αυτην οτι ελαλησα προς ναβουθαι τον ιεζραηλιτην λεγων δος μοι τον αμπελωνα σου αργυριου ει δε βουλει δωσω σοι αμπελωνα αλλον αντ' αυτου και ειπεν ου δωσω σοι κληρονομιαν πατερων
Latin Qui respondit ei : Locutus sum Naboth Jezrahelitæ, et dixi ei : Da mihi vineam tuam, accepta pecunia : aut, si tibi placet, dabo tibi vineam meliorem pro ea. Et ille ait : Non dabo tibi vineam meam.
KJV And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
