Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, "The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son as wife. Then a wild animal that was in Lebanon passed by, and trampled down the thistle.

Hebrew וישלח יהואש מלך־ישראל אל־אמציהו מלך־יהודה לאמר החוח אשר בלבנון שלח אל־הארז אשר בלבנון לאמר תנה־את־בתך לבני לאשה ותעבר חית השדה אשר בלבנון ותרמס את־החוח׃
Greek και απεστειλεν ιωας βασιλευς ισραηλ προς αμεσσιαν βασιλεα ιουδα λεγων ο ακαν ο εν τω λιβανω απεστειλεν προς την κεδρον την εν τω λιβανω λεγων δος την θυγατερα σου τω υιω μου εις γυναικα και διηλθον τα θηρια του αγρου τα εν τω λιβανω και συνεπατησαν τον
Latin Remisitque Joas rex Israël ad Amasiam regem Juda, dicens : Carduus Libani misit ad cedrum, quæ est in Libano, dicens : Da filiam tuam filio meo uxorem. Transieruntque bestiæ saltus, quæ sunt in Libano, et conculcaverunt carduum.
