Despite the arrest by the Sanhedrin, many Jews who had heard Peter's message believed. About 5,000 men believed according to [[Acts 4:4]].

Peter's third message was to the Sanhedrin. It is a bold message, where Jesus is shown to be the "stone that the builders rejected" ([[Psalm 118:22]]). Jesus is proclaimed to be the only source of salvation in [[Acts 4:12]]

After the Sanhedrin threatened Peter and John, they released them. [[Acts 4:29]] shows the disciples asking for strength and boldness, not necessarily protection, which is perhaps a lesson for Christians today.
Their prayer for boldness was answered, [[Acts 4:31]]

The church was strengthened after this, and many believers handed over their property or money. This was a demonstration of their love and committment and unity. It was not a forced or organized affair, but instead was voluntary and unmethodical affair, quite unlike cults of today.
