The Book of Malachi is a book of the [[Old Testament]] written by the prophet [[Malachi]]. Malachi directed a message of judgement to a people plagued with corrupt priests, sinful practices, and a false sense of security in their privileged relationship with God. For four hundred years after Malachi's ringing condemnations, there were no prophets. Only with the coming of [[John the Baptist]] (prophesied in [[Malachi 3:1]]) did God again communicate to His people through a prophet's voice.
