The Book of Mormon is a book held sacred by various religions, the largest being The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Opinions vary regarding the book. The Church of the Latter Day Saints teaches that it was translated by Joseph Smith and is the record of God's dealings with the people of the American continents, approximately between the years 600 BC and 400 AD. Many non-Mormons believe that it was fabricated by Joseph Smith and teaches a false religion.

The climax of the book involves a visit by the resurrected Jesus Christ, shortly after his crucifixion. The Book of Mormon is titled "Another Testament of Jesus Christ," and is considered by Mormons to be one in a set of canonized spiritual writings side-by-side to The Old Testament and The New Testament.
