One of the earliest movies with a Biblical theme was The Ten Commandments by Cecil B. DeMill.

In 2004, director Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ was released. This film described the night of Jesus' betrayal, questionig, beatings and death. The film made a world-wide impact.
