- Now it happened in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
- In the fifth [day] of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,
- the word of Yahweh came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Yahweh was there on him.
- I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around it, and out of its midst as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.
- Out of its midst came the likeness of four living creatures. This was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
- Everyone had four faces, and each one of them had four wings.
- Their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled like burnished brass.
- They had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and the four of them had their faces and their wings [thus]:
- their wings were joined one to another; they didn't turn when they went; each one went straight forward.
- As for the likeness of their faces, they had the face of a man; and the four of them had the face of a lion on the right side; and the four of them had the face of an ox on the left side; the four of them also had the face of an eagle.
- Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above. Two wings of each one touched another, and two covered their bodies.
- Each one went straight forward: where the spirit was to go, they went; they didn't turn when they went.
- As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches: [the fire] went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
- The living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
- Now as I saw the living creatures, behold, one wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces of it.
- The appearance of the wheels and their work was like a beryl: and the four of them had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.
- When they went, they went in their four directions: they didn't turn when they went.
- As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and the four of them had their rims full of eyes all around.
- When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
- Wherever the spirit was to go, they went; there was the spirit to go: and the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
- When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
- Over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of an expanse, like the awesome crystal to look on, stretched forth over their heads above.
- Under the expanse were their wings straight, the one toward the other: each one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side, their bodies.
- When they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of an army: when they stood, they let down their wings.
- There was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads: when they stood, they let down their wings.
- Above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and on the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.
- I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it all around, from the appearance of his waist and upward; and from the appearance of his waist and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.
- As the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Yahweh. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.

- ויהי בשלשים שנה ברביעי בחמשה לחדש ואני בתוך־הגולה על־נהר־כבר נפתחו השמים ואראה מראות אלהים׃
- בחמשה לחדש היא השנה החמישית לגלות המלך יויכין׃
- היה היה דבר־יהוה אל־יחזקאל בן־בוזי הכהן בארץ כשדים על־נהר־כבר ותהי עליו שם יד־יהוה׃
- וארא והנה רוח סערה באה מן־הצפון עןן גדול ואש מתלקחת ונגה לו סביב ומתוכה כעין החשמל מתוך האש׃
- ומתוכה דמות ארבע חיות וזה מראיהן דמות אדם להנה׃
- וארבעה פנים לאחת וארבע כנפים לאחת להם׃
- ורגליהם רגל ישרה וכף רגליהם ככף רגל עגל ונצצים כעין נחשת קלל׃
- אדם מתחת כנפיהם על ארבעת רבעיהם ופניהם וכנפיהם לארבעתם׃
- חברת אשה אל־אחותה כנפיהם לא־יסבו בלכתן איש אל־עבר פניו ילכו׃
- ודמות פניהם פני אדם ופני אריה אל־הימין לארבעתם ופני־שור מהשמאול לארבעתן ופני־נשר לארבעתן׃
- ופניהם וכנפיהם פרדות מלמעלה לאיש שתים חברות איש ושתים מכסות את גויתיהנה׃
- ואיש אל־עבר פניו ילכו אל אשר יהיה־שמה הרוח ללכת ילכו לא יסבו בלכתן׃
- ודמות החיות מראיהם כגחלי־אש בערות כמראה הלפדים היא מתהלכת בין החיות ונגה לאש ומן־האש יוצא ברק׃
- והחיות רצוא ושוב כמראה הבזק׃
- וארא החיות והנה אופן אחד בארץ אצל החיות לארבעת פניו׃
- מראה האופנים ומעשיהם כעין תרשיש ודמות אחד לארבעתן ומראיהם ומעשיהם כאשר יהיה האופן בתוך האופן׃
- על־ארבעת רבעיהן בלכתם ילכו לא יסבו בלכתן׃
- וגביהן וגבה להם ויראה להם וגבתם מלאת עינים סביב לארבעתן׃
- ובלכת החיות ילכו האופנים אצלם ובהנשא החיות מעל הארץ ינשאו האופנים׃
- על אשר יהיה־שם הרוח ללכת ילכו שמה הרוח ללכת והאופנים ינשאו לעמתם כי רוח החיה באופנים׃
- בלכתם ילכו ובעמדם יעמדו ובהנשאם מעל הארץ ינשאו האופנים לעמתם כי רוח החיה באופנים׃
- ודמות על־ראשי החיה רקיע כעין הקרח הנורא נטוי על־ראשיהם מלמעלה׃
- ותחת הרקיע כנפיהם ישרות אשה אל־אחותה לאיש שתים מכסות להנה ולאיש שתים מכסות להנה את גויתיהם׃
- ואשמע את־קול כנפיהם כקול מים רבים כקול־שדי בלכתם קול המלה כקול מחנה בעמדם תרפינה כנפיהן׃
- ויהי־קול מעל לרקיע אשר על־ראשם בעמדם תרפינה כנפיהן׃
- וממעל לרקיע אשר על־ראשם כמראה אבן־ספיר דמות כסא ועל דמות הכסא דמות כמראה אדם עליו מלמעלה׃
- וארא כעין חשמל כמראה־אש בית־לה סביב ממראה מתניו ולמעלה וממראה מתניו ולמטה ראיתי כמראה־אש ונגה לו סביב׃
- כמראה הקשת אשר יהיה בעןן ביום הגשם כן מראה הנגה סביב הוא מראה דמות כבוד־יהוה ואראה ואפל על־פני ואשמע קול מדבר׃ ס

- Et factum est in trigesimo anno, in quarto, in quinta mensis, cum essem in medio captivorum juxta fluvium Chobar, aperti sunt cæli, et vidi visiones Dei.
- In quinta mensis, ipse est annus quintus transmigrationis regis Joachim,
- factum est verbum Domini ad Ezechielem filium Buzi sacerdotem, in terra Chaldæorum, sicut flumen Chobar : et facta est super eum ibi manus Domini.
- Et vidi, et ecce ventus turbinis veniebat ab aquilone, et nubes magna, et ignis involvens, et splendor in circuitu ejus : et de medio ejus, quasi species electri, id est, de medio ignis :
- et in medio ejus similitudo quatuor animalium. Et hic aspectus eorum, similitudo hominis in eis.
- Quatuor facies uni, et quatuor pennæ uni.
- Pedes eorum, pedes recti, et planta pedis eorum quasi planta pedis vituli : et scintillæ quasi aspectus æris candentis.
- Et manus hominis sub pennis eorum, in quatuor partibus : et facies et pennas per quatuor partes habebant.
- Junctæque erant pennæ eorum alterius ad alterum : non revertebantur cum incederent, sed unumquodque ante faciem suam gradiebatur.
- Similitudo autem vultus eorum, facies hominis et facies leonis a dextris ipsorum quatuor, facies autem bovis a sinistris ipsorum quatuor, et facies aquilæ desuper ipsorum quatuor.
- Facies eorum et pennæ eorum extentæ desuper : duæ pennæ singulorum jungebantur, et duæ tegebant corpora eorum.
- Et unumquodque eorum coram facie sua ambulabat : ubi erat impetus spiritus, illuc gradiebantur, nec revertebantur cum ambularent.
- Et similitudo animalium, aspectus eorum quasi carbonum ignis ardentium, et quasi aspectus lampadarum : hæc erat visio discurrens in medio animalium, splendor ignis, et de igne fulgur egrediens.
- Et animalia ibant et revertebantur, in similitudinem fulguris coruscantis.
- Cumque aspicerem animalia, apparuit rota una super terram juxta animalia, habens quatuor facies.
- Et aspectus rotarum et opus earum quasi visio maris : et una similitudo ipsarum quatuor : et aspectus earum et opera quasi sit rota in medio rotæ.
- Per quatuor partes earum euntes ibant, et non revertebantur cum ambularent.
- Statura quoque erat rotis, et altitudo, et horribilis aspectus : et totum corpus oculis plenum in circuitu ipsarum quatuor.
- Cumque ambularent animalia, ambulabant pariter et rotæ juxta ea : et cum elevarentur animalia de terra, elevabantur simul et rotæ.
- Quocumque ibat spiritus, illuc, eunte spiritu, et rotæ pariter elevabantur sequentes eum : spiritus enim vitæ erat in rotis.
- Cum euntibus ibant, et cum stantibus stabant : et cum elevatis a terra, pariter elevabantur et rotæ sequentes ea, quia spiritus vitæ erat in rotis.
- Et similitudo super capita animalium firmamenti, quasi aspectus crystalli horribilis, et extenti super capita eorum desuper.
- Sub firmamento autem pennæ eorum rectæ alterius ad alterum : unumquodque duabus alis velabat corpus suum, et alterum similiter velabatur.
- Et audiebam sonum alarum, quasi sonum aquarum multarum, quasi sonum sublimis Dei : cum ambularent, quasi sonus erat multitudinis ut sonus castrorum : cumque starent, demittebantur pennæ eorum.
- Nam cum fieret vox super firmamentum quod erat super caput eorum, stabant, et submittebant alas suas.
- Et super firmamentum, quod erat imminens capiti eorum, quasi aspectus lapidis sapphiri similitudo throni : et super similitudinem throni similitudo quasi aspectus hominis desuper.
- Et vidi quasi speciem electri, velut aspectum ignis, intrinsecus ejus per circuitum : a lumbis ejus et desuper, et a lumbis ejus usque deorsum, vidi quasi speciem ignis splendentis in circuitu,
- velut aspectum arcus cum fuerit in nube in die pluviæ. Hic erat aspectus splendoris per gyrum.

- And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
- Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.
- And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.
- And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass.
- And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

- And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
- And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
- As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
