Hebrew ויקח־לו יעקב מקל לבנה לח ולוז וערמון ויפצל בהן פצלות לבנות מחשף הלבן אשר על־המקלות׃
Greek ελαβεν δε εαυτω ιακωβ ραβδον στυρακινην χλωραν και καρυινην και πλατανου και ελεπισεν αυτας ιακωβ λεπισματα λευκα περισυρων το χλωρον εφαινετο δε επι ταις ραβδοις το λευκον ο ελεπισεν
Latin Tollens ergo Jacob virgas populeas virides, et amygdalinas, et ex platanis, ex parte decorticavit eas : detractisque corticibus, in his, quæ spoliata fuerant, candor apparuit : illa vero quæ integra fuerant, viridia permanserunt : atque in hunc modum color effectus est varius.
KJV And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.
