{{links}}==Main article== Ecclesia (Ekklesia) is a [[Koine Greek]] word meaning "gathering of the ones called out". In the [[New Testament]] the word is translated as "[[church]]". The word means a body of faithful Christians. It can be used to include not merely the Christians of a particular area, but also to the whole body of Christians, but alive and dead. The disciples of a single locality are often referred to in the New Testament as a church ([[Revelation 2:18]], [[Romans 16:4]], [[Acts 9:31]]). [[Apostle Paul|Paul]] even applies the term to disciples belonging to a single household ([[Romans 16:5]], [[1 Corinthians 16:19]], [[Colossians 4:15]], [[Philemon 1:2]]). The global use of the word can be seen from its very first appearance in [[Mark 14:49]] and later in [[Ephesians 5:25-27]]. ==Links==
