- The burden of Tyre. Howl, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. From the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.
- Be still, you inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.
- On great waters, the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue. She was the market of nations.
- Be ashamed, Sidon; for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, "I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins."
- When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report of Tyre.
- Pass over to Tarshish! Wail, you inhabitants of the coast!
- Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her far away to travel?
- Who has planned this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honorable of the earth?
- Yahweh of Armies has planned it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.
- Pass through your land like the Nile, daughter of Tarshish. There is no restraint any more.
- He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Yahweh has ordered the destruction of Canaan's strongholds.
- He said, "You shall rejoice no more, you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim. Even there you will have no rest."
- Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people was not. The Assyrians founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.
- Howl, you ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste!
- It will come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it will be to Tyre like in the song of the prostitute.
- Take a harp; go about the city, you prostitute that has been forgotten. Make sweet melody. Sing many songs, that you may be remembered.
- It will happen after the end of seventy years that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and will play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world on the surface of the earth.
- Her merchandise and her wages will be holiness to Yahweh. It will not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

- משא צר הילילו אניות תרשיש כי־שדד מבית מבוא מארץ כתים נגלה־למו׃
- דמו ישבי אי סחר צידון עבר ים מלאוך׃
- ובמים רבים זרע שחר קציר יאור תבואתה ותהי סחר גוים׃
- בושי צידון כי־אמר ים מעוז הים לאמר לא־חלתי ולא־ילדתי ולא גדלתי בחורים רוממתי בתולות׃
- כאשר־שמע למצרים יחילו כשמע צר׃
- עברו תרשישה הילילו ישבי אי׃
- הזאת לכם עליזה מימי־קדם קדמתה יבלוה רגליה מרחוק לגור׃
- מי יעץ זאת על־צר המעטירה אשר סחריה שרים כנעניה נכבדי־ארץ׃
- יהוה צבאות יעצה לחלל גאון כל־צבי להקל כל־נכבדי־ארץ׃
- עברי ארצך כיאר בת־תרשיש אין מזח עוד׃
- ידו נטה על־הים הרגיז ממלכות יהוה צוה אל־כנען לשמד מעזניה׃
- ויאמר לא־תוסיפי עוד לעלוז המעשקה בתולת בת־צידון קומי עברי גם־שם לא־ינוח לך׃
- הן ארץ כשדים זה העם לא היה אשור יסדה לציים הקימו עררו ארמנותיה שמה למפלה׃
- הילילו אניות תרשיש כי שדד מעזכן׃ ס
- והיה ביום ההוא ונשכחת צר שבעים שנה כימי מלך אחד מקץ שבעים שנה יהיה לצר כשירת הזונה׃
- קחי כנור סבי עיר זונה נשכחה היטיבי נגן הרבי־שיר למען תזכרי׃
- והיה מקץ שבעים שנה יפקד יהוה את־צר ושבה לאתננה וזנתה את־כל־ממלכות הארץ על־פני האדמה׃
- והיה סחרה ואתננה קדש ליהוה לא יאצר ולא יחסן כי לישבים לפני יהוה יהיה סחרה לאכל לשבעה ולמכסה עתיק׃ ף

- Onus Tyri. Ululate, naves maris, quia vastata est domus unde venire consueverant : de terra Cethim revelatum est eis.
- Tacete, qui habitatis in insula ; negotiatores Sidonis, transfretantes mare, repleverunt te.
- In aquis multis semen Nili ; messis fluminis fruges ejus : et facta est negotiatio gentium.
- Erubesce, Sidon ; ait enim mare, fortitudo maris, dicens : Non parturivi, et non peperi, et non enutrivi juvenes, nec ad incrementum perduxi virgines.
- Cum auditum fuerit in Ægypto, dolebunt cum audierint de Tiro.
- Transite maria, ululate, qui habitatis in insula !
- Numquid non vestra hæc est, quæ gloriabatur a diebus pristinis in antiquitate sua ? Ducent eam pedes sui longe ad peregrinandum.
- Quis cogitavit hoc super Tyrum quondam coronatam, cujus negotiatores principes, institores ejus inclyti terræ ?
- Dominus exercituum cogitavit hoc, ut detraheret superbiam omnis gloriæ, et ad ignominiam deduceret universos inclytos terræ.
- Transi terram tuam quasi flumen, filia maris ! non est cingulum ultra tibi.
- Manum suam extendit super mare ; conturbavit regna. Dominus mandavit adversus Chanaan, ut contereret fortes ejus ;
- et dixit : Non adjicies ultra ut glorieris, calumniam sustinens virgo filia Sidonis : in Cethim consurgens transfreta : ibi quoque non erit requies tibi.
- Ecce terra Chaldæorum, talis populus non fuit : Assur fundavit eam ; in captivitatem traduxerunt robustos ejus, suffoderunt domos ejus, posuerunt eam in ruinam.
- Ululate, naves maris, quia devastata est fortitudo vestra.
- Et erit in die illa : in oblivione eris, o Tyre ! septuaginta annis, sicut dies regis unius ; post septuaginta autem annos erit Tyro quasi canticum meretricis :
- Sume citharam, circui civitatem, meretrix oblivioni tradita : bene cane, frequenta canticum, ut memoria tui sit.
- Et erit post septuaginta annos : visitabit Dominus Tyrum, et reducet eam ad mercedes suas, et rursum fornicabitur cum universis regnis terræ super faciem terræ ;
- et erunt negotiationes ejus et mercedes ejus sanctificatæ Domino : non condentur neque reponentur, quia his qui habitaverint coram Domino erit negotiatio ejus, ut manducent in saturitatem, et vestiantur usque ad vetustatem.

- The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them.
- Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished.
- And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a mart of nations.
- Be thou ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.
- As at the report concerning Egypt, so shall they be sorely pained at the report of Tyre.
- Pass ye over to Tarshish; howl, ye inhabitants of the isle.
- Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days? her own feet shall carry her afar off to sojourn.
- Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?
- The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
- Pass through thy land as a river, O daughter of Tarshish: there is no more strength.
- He stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD hath given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy the strong holds thereof.
- And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest.
- Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin.
- Howl, ye ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste.
- And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as an harlot.
- Take an harp, go about the city, thou harlot that hast been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou mayest be remembered.
- And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
- And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
