The modern day country of Israel is a small country in the [[Middle East]], which was set up after the Second World War to be a home to the remaining Jews. It was established in the land of [[Palestine]] where [[Arab ]] people, mostly [[Muslims]] had lived for generations. The name Israel comes from the [[Old Testament]] - the patriach [[Jacob]] was renamed Israel by God, and from his twelve sons, the Jewish nation arose, known as Israel.
