You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, in vain do you make yourself beautiful; [your] lovers despise you, they seek your life.

Hebrew שדוד מה־תעשי כי־תלבשי שני כי־תעדי עדי־זהב כי־תקרעי בפוך עיניך לשוא תתיפי מאסו־בך עגבים נפשך יבקשו׃
Greek και συ τι ποιησεις εαν περιβαλη κοκκινον και κοσμηση κοσμω χρυσω και εαν εγχριση στιβι τους οφθαλμους σου εις ματην ο ωραισμος σου απωσαντο σε οι ερασται σου την ψυχην σου
Latin Tu autem vastata, quid facies ? Cum vestieris te coccino, cum ornata fueris monili aureo, et pinxeris stibio oculos tuos, frustra componeris : contempserunt te amatores tui, animam tuam quærent.
KJV And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
