- Now Joshua was old and well advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, "You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to be possessed.
- "This is the land that still remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all the Geshurites;
- from the Shihor, which is before Egypt, even to the border of Ekron northward, which is counted as Canaanite; the five lords of the Philistines; the Gazites, and the Ashdodites, the Ashkelonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avvim,
- on the south; all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the border of the Amorites;
- and the land of the Gebalites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, from Baal Gad under Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath;
- all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, even all the Sidonians; them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only allocate it to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.
- Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh."
- With him the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of Yahweh gave them:
- from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon;
- and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the children of Ammon;
- and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah;
- all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (the same was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); for Moses attacked these, and drove them out.
- Nevertheless the children of Israel didn't drive out the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites: but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day.
- Only he gave no inheritance to the tribe of Levi. The offerings of Yahweh, the God of Israel, made by fire are his inheritance, as he spoke to him.
- Moses gave to the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their families.
- Their border was from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plain by Medeba;
- Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon,
- Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
- Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar in the mount of the valley,
- Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth,
- all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses struck with the chiefs of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who lived in the land.
- The children of Israel alse killed Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, with the sword, among the rest of their slain.
- The border of the children of Reuben was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, the cities and its villages.
- Moses gave to the tribe of Gad, to the children of Gad, according to their families.
- Their border was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, to Aroer that is before Rabbah;
- and from Heshbon to Ramath Mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir;
- and in the valley, Beth Haram, Beth Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan's bank, to the uttermost part of the sea of Chinnereth beyond the Jordan eastward.
- This is the inheritance of the children of Gad according to their families, the cities and its villages.
- Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh. It was for the half-tribe of the children of Manasseh according to their families.
- Their border was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities.
- Half Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were for the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even for the half of the children of Machir according to their families.
- These are the inheritances which Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan at Jericho, eastward.
- But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance. Yahweh, the God of Israel, is their inheritance, as he spoke to them.

- ויהושע זקן בא בימים ויאמר יהוה אליו אתה זקנתה באת בימים והארץ נשארה הרבה־מאד לרשתה׃
- זאת הארץ הנשארת כל־גלילות הפלשתים וכל־הגשורי׃
- מן־השיחור אשר על־פני מצרים ועד גבול עקרון צפונה לכנעני תחשב חמשת סרני פלשתים העזתי והאשדודי האשקלוני הגתי והעקרוני והעוים׃
- מתימן כל־ארץ הכנעני ומערה אשר לצידנים עד־אפקה עד גבול האמרי׃
- והארץ הגבלי וכל־הלבנון מזרח השמש מבעל גד תחת הר־חרמון עד לבוא חמת׃
- כל־ישבי ההר מן־הלבנון עד־משרפת מים כל־צידנים אנכי אורישם מפני בני ישראל רק הפלה לישראל בנחלה כאשר צויתיך׃
- ועתה חלק את־הארץ הזאת בנחלה לתשעת השבטים וחצי השבט המנשה׃
- עמו הראובני והגדי לקחו נחלתם אשר נתן להם משה בעבר הירדן מזרחה כאשר נתן להם משה עבד יהוה׃
- מערוער אשר על־שפת־נחל ארנון והעיר אשר בתוך־הנחל וכל־המישר מידבא עד־דיבון׃
- וכל ערי סיחון מלך האמרי אשר מלך בחשבון עד־גבול בני עמון׃
- והגלעד וגבול הגשורי והמעכתי וכל הר חרמון וכל־הבשן עד־סלכה׃
- כל־ממלכות עוג בבשן אשר־מלך בעשתרות ובאדרעי הוא נשאר מיתר הרפאים ויכם משה וירשם׃
- ולא הורישו בני ישראל את־הגשורי ואת־המעכתי וישב גשור ומעכת בקרב ישראל עד היום הזה׃
- רק לשבט הלוי לא נתן נחלה אשי יהוה אלהי ישראל הוא נחלתו כאשר דבר־לו׃ ס
- ויתן משה למטה בני־ראובן למשפחתם׃
- ויהי להם הגבול מערוער אשר על־שפת־נחל ארנון והעיר אשר בתוך־הנחל וכל־המישר על־מידבא׃
- חשבון וכל־עריה אשר במישר דיבון ובמות בעל ובית בעל מעון׃
- ויהצה וקדמת ומפעת׃
- וקריתים ושבמה וצרת השחר בהר העמק׃
- ובית פעור ואשדות הפסגה ובית הישמות׃
- וכל ערי המישר וכל־ממלכות סיחון מלך האמרי אשר מלך בחשבון אשר הכה משה אתו ואת־נשיאי מדין את־אוי ואת־רקם ואת־צור ואת־חור ואת־רבע נסיכי סיחון ישבי הארץ׃
- ואת־בלעם בן־בעור הקוסם הרגו בני־ישראל בחרב אל־חלליהם׃
- ויהי גבול בני ראובן הירדן וגבול זאת נחלת בני־ראובן למשפחתם הערים וחצריהן׃ ף
- ויתן משה למטה־גד לבני־גד למשפחתם׃
- ויהי להם הגבול יעזר וכל־ערי הגלעד וחצי ארץ בני עמון עד־ערוער אשר על־פני רבה׃
- ומחשבון עד־רמת המצפה ובטנים וממחנים עד־גבול לדבר׃
- ובעמק בית הרם ובית נמרה וסכות וצפון יתר ממלכות סיחון מלך חשבון הירדן וגבל עד־קצה ים־כנרת עבר הירדן מזרחה׃
- זאת נחלת בני־גד למשפחתם הערים וחצריהם׃
- ויתן משה לחצי שבט מנשה ויהי לחצי מטה בני־מנשה למשפחותם׃
- ויהי גבולם ממחנים כל־הבשן כל־ממלכות עוג מלך־הבשן וכל־חות יאיר אשר בבשן ששים עיר׃
- וחצי הגלעד ועשתרות ואדרעי ערי ממלכות עוג בבשן לבני מכיר בן־מנשה לחצי בני־מכיר למשפחותם׃
- אלה אשר־נחל משה בערבות מואב מעבר לירדן יריחו מזרחה׃ ס
- ולשבט הלוי לא־נתן משה נחלה יהוה אלהי ישראל הוא נחלתם כאשר דבר להם׃

- Josue senex provectæque ætatis erat, et dixit Dominus ad eum : Senuisti, et longævus es, terraque latissima derelicta est, quæ necdum sorte divisa est :
- omnis videlicet Galilæa, Philisthiim, et universa Gessuri.
- A fluvio turbido, qui irrigat Ægyptum, usque ad terminos Accaron contra aquilonem : terra Chanaan, quæ in quinque regulos Philisthiim dividitur, Gazæos, et Azotios, Ascalonitas, Gethæos, et Accaronitas.
- Ad meridiem vero sunt Hevæi, omnis terra Chanaan, et Maara Sidoniorum, usque Apheca et terminos Amorrhæi,
- ejusque confinia. Libani quoque regio contra orientem, a Baalgad sub monte Hermon, donec ingrediaris Emath.
- Omnium qui habitant in monte a Libano usque ad aquas Maserephoth, universique Sidonii. Ego sum qui delebo eos a facie filiorum Israël. Veniat ergo in partem hæreditatis Israël, sicut præcepi tibi.
- Et nunc divide terram in possessionem novem tribubus, et dimidiæ tribui Manasse,
- cum qua Ruben et Gad possederunt terram, quam tradidit eis Moyses famulus Domini trans fluenta Jordanis, ad orientalem plagam.
- Ab Aroër, quæ sita est in ripa torrentis Arnon, et in vallis medio, universaque campestria Medaba, usque Dibon,
- et cunctas civitates Sehon regis Amorrhæi, qui regnavit in Hesebon, usque ad terminos filiorum Ammon,
- et Galaad, ac terminum Gessuri et Machati, et omnem montem Hermon, et universam Basan, usque ad Salecha,
- omne regnum Og in Basan, qui regnavit in Astaroth et Edrai, ipse fuit de reliquiis Raphaim : percussitque eos Moyses, atque delevit.
- Nolueruntque disperdere filii Israël Gessuri et Machati : et habitaverunt in medio Israël usque in præsentem diem.
- Tribui autem Levi non dedit possessionem : sed sacrificia et victimæ Domini Dei Israël, ipsa est ejus hæreditas, sicut locutus est illi.
- Dedit ergo Moyses possessionem tribui filiorum Ruben juxta cognationes suas.
- Fuitque terminus eorum ab Aroër, quæ sita est in ripa torrentis Arnon, et in valle ejusdem torrentis media : universam planitiem, quæ ducit Medaba,
- et Hesebon, cunctosque viculos earum, qui sunt in campestribus : Dibon quoque et Bamothbaal, et oppidum Baalmaon,
- et Jassa, et Cedimoth, et Mephaath,

- Et Balaam filium Beor ariolum occiderunt filii Israël gladio cum ceteris interfectis.
- Factusque est terminus filiorum Ruben Jordanis fluvius. Hæc est possessio Rubenitarum per cognationes suas urbium et viculorum.
- Deditque Moyses tribui Gad et filiis ejus per cognationes suas possessionem, cujus hæc divisio est.
- Terminus Jaser, et omnes civitates Galaad, et dimidiam partem terræ filiorum Ammon, usque ad Aroër, quæ est contra Rabba,
- et ab Hesebon usque Ramoth, Masphe et Betonim : et a Manaim usque ad terminos Dabir.
- In valle quoque Betharan, et Bethnemra, et Socoth, et Saphon reliquam partem regni Sehon regis Hesebon : hujus quoque finis, Jordanis est, usque ad extremam partem maris Cenereth trans Jordanem ad orientalem plagam.
- Hæc est possessio filiorum Gad per familias suas, civitates et villæ earum.
- Dedit et dimidiæ tribui Manasse, filiisque ejus juxta cognationes suas possessionem,
- cujus hoc principium est : a Manaim universam Basan, et cuncta regna Og regis Basan, omnesque vicos Jair, qui sunt in Basan, sexaginta oppida :
- et dimidiam partem Galaad, et Astaroth, et Edrai, urbes regni Og in Basan : filiis Machir, filii Manasse, dimidiæ parti filiorum Machir juxta cognationes suas.

- Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
- This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
- From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
- From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
- And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
- All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-maim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
- Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
- With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;

- Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
- And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families.
- And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
- Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,
- And Jahazah, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
- And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
- And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth,
- And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
- Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.
- And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
- And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families.
- And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;
- And from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;
- And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
- This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
- And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.
- And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:
- And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
- These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
- But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
