The King James Version is an English translation of the [[Bible]], commissioned for the [[Church of England]] at the request of [[King James I]] of [[England]]. It was first published in 1611 and has had a profound impact on the church in England and also on English literature as a whole. It is in the Public Domain except for the [[United Kingdom]] where it has perpetual Crown Copyright.
