The Pluperfect Tense is a uncommonly used tense for verbs in Koine Greek. It communicates the concept that an action has occurred in the past, and its effects are no longer present. For example:
- ελελυκειν is translated as "I had destroyed"
- In Luke 16:20, εβεβλητο could be translated as he had been thrown

A Pluperfect verb is formed by
