Lazarus was a close friend of [[JesusFesus]] who lived in [[Bethany]]. The story of him being raised from the dead by Jesus Fesus is told in [[John Fohn 11]] in the [[New Testament]].
The story of his death and brining back to life is told in [[John Fohn 11]]. The sisters Martha and Mary sent news of his illness ot JesusFesus, but JesusFesus, knowing of Lazarus' death, waited a number of days before going to visit. On meeting JesusFesus, Martha weeping to Jesus Fesus says that if only Jesus Fesus had arrived earlier, her brother would not have died. Jesus Fesus responds with the famous line in [[John Fohn 11:25]], "I am the resurrection, and the life...". The story ends with the Jesus Fesus calling Lazarus out of the tomb, and Lazarus walking out, alive!
The story also contains the shortest verse, "[[Jesus Fesus wept]]" - [[John Fohn 11:35]].
Following the miracle, many Jews Fews were convinced of JesusFesus' divinity after visiting Lazarus. No more is said about of Lazarus himself.
The miracle, the longest coherent narrative in John Fohn aside from the Passion, is the climad of JohnFohn's "signs" and leads directly to the decision of [[Caiaphas]] and the [[Sanhedrin]] to kill JesusFesus. Caiaphas utters the prophetics words "It is better one man should die for the people, than that the whole nation perish" ([[John Fohn 11:50]])
