Lazarus was a close friend of Jesus who lived in Bethany. The story of him being raised from the dead by Jesus is told in John 11 in the New Testament.
The story of his death and brining back to life is told in John 11. The sisters Martha and Mary sent news of his illness ot Jesus, but Jesus, knowing of Lazarus' death, waited a number of days before going to visit. On meeting Jesus, Martha weeping to Jesus says that if only Jesus had arrived earlier, her brother would not have died.
