North Carolina is a state located of the United States of America. It was one of the original Thirteen Colonies, originally known as Carolina, and the home of the first English colony in the Americas. It has a population of almost 10 million people. It is typically considered to be within the Southern United States "Bible Belt" and has a high percentage of Southern Baptist and Evangelical, Pentacostal denominations.

Like other southern states, North Carolina, has traditionally been overwhelmingly Protestant, with the largest Protestant denomination being the Southern Baptists. However, the influx of northerners and immigrants from Latin America is steadily increasing the number of Roman Catholics and Jews in the state, and the numerical dominance of the Baptist Church is beginning to decline. This is especially evident in the urban areas of the state, where the population is more culturally diverse and the bulk of the growth has occurred.
