- Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
- "Command the children of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper, and everyone who has an issue, and whoever is unclean by the dead.
- Both you shall put male and female outside of the camp; that they not defile their camp, in the midst of which I dwell."
- The children of Israel did so, and put them out outside of the camp; as Yahweh spoke to Moses, so did the children of Israel.
- Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
- "Speak to the children of Israel: 'When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit, so as to trespass against Yahweh, and that soul is guilty;
- then he shall confess his sin which he has done, and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, and add to it the fifth part of it, and give it to him in respect of whom he has been guilty.
- But if the man has no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the guilt, the restitution for guilt which is made to Yahweh shall be the priest's; besides the ram of the atonement, by which atonement shall be made for him.
- Every heave offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they present to the priest, shall be his.
- Every man's holy things shall be his: whatever any man gives the priest, it shall be his.'"
- Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
- "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them: 'If any man's wife goes astray, and is unfaithful to him,
- and a man lies with her carnally, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and is kept close, and she is defiled, and there is no witness against her, and she isn't taken in the act;
- and the spirit of jealousy comes on him, and he is jealous of his wife, and she is defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy comes on him, and he is jealous of his wife, and she isn't defiled:
- then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring her offering for her: the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal. He shall pour no oil on it, nor put frankincense on it, for it is a meal offering of jealousy, a meal offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to memory.
- The priest shall bring her near, and set her before Yahweh;
- and the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water.
- The priest shall set the woman before Yahweh, and let the hair of the woman's head go loose, and put the meal offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal offering of jealousy. The priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that brings a curse.
- The priest shall cause her to swear, and shall tell the woman, "If no man has lain with you, and if you haven't gone aside to uncleanness, being under your husband, be free from this water of bitterness that brings a curse.
- But if you have gone astray, being under your husband, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you besides your husband:"
- then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall tell the woman, "Yahweh make you a curse and an oath among your people, when Yahweh allows your thigh to fall away, and your body to swell;
- and this water that brings a curse will go into your bowels, and make your body swell, and your thigh fall away." The woman shall say, "Amen, Amen."
- "'The priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness.
- He shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causes the curse; and the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter.
- The priest shall take the meal offering of jealousy out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the meal offering before Yahweh, and bring it to the altar.
- The priest shall take a handful of the meal offering, as its memorial, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water.
- When he has made her drink the water, then it shall happen, if she is defiled, and has committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse will enter into her and become bitter, and her body will swell, and her thigh will fall away: and the woman will be a curse among her people.
- If the woman isn't defiled, but is clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
- "'This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goes astray, and is defiled;
- or when the spirit of jealousy comes on a man, and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall set the woman before Yahweh, and the priest shall execute on her all this law.
- The man shall be free from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.'"

- וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃
- צו את־בני ישראל וישלחו מן־המחנה כל־צרוע וכל־זב וכל טמא לנפש׃
- מזכר עד־נקבה תשלחו אל־מחוץ למחנה תשלחום ולא יטמאו את־מחניהם אשר אני שכן בתוכם׃
- ויעשו־כן בני ישראל וישלחו אותם אל־מחוץ למחנה כאשר דבר יהוה אל־משה כן עשו בני ישראל׃ ף
- וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃
- דבר אל־בני ישראל איש או־אשה כי יעשו מכל־חטאת האדם למעל מעל ביהוה ואשמה הנפש ההוא׃
- והתודו את־חטאתם אשר עשו והשיב את־אשמו בראשו וחמישתו יסף עליו ונתן לאשר אשם לו׃
- ואם־אין לאיש גאל להשיב האשם אליו האשם המושב ליהוה לכהן מלבד איל הכפרים אשר יכפר־בו עליו׃
- וכל־תרומה לכל־קדשי בני־ישראל אשר־יקריבו לכהן לו יהיה׃
- ואיש את־קדשיו לו יהיו איש אשר־יתן לכהן לו יהיה׃ ף
- וידבר יהוה אל־משה לאמר׃
- דבר אל־בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם איש איש כי־תשטה אשתו ומעלה בו מעל׃
- ושכב איש אתה שכבת־זרע ונעלם מעיני אישה ונסתרה והיא נטמאה ועד אין בה והוא לא נתפשה׃
- ועבר עליו רוח־קנאה וקנא את־אשתו והוא נטמאה או־עבר עליו רוח־קנאה וקנא את־אשתו והיא לא נטמאה׃
- והביא האיש את־אשתו אל־הכהן והביא את־קרבנה עליה עשירת האיפה קמח שערים לא־יצק עליו שמן ולא־יתן עליו לבנה כי־מנחת קנאת הוא מנחת זכרון מזכרת עון׃
- והקריב אתה הכהן והעמדה לפני יהוה׃
- ולקח הכהן מים קדשים בכלי־חרש ומן־העפר אשר יהיה בקרקע המשכן יקח הכהן ונתן אל־המים׃
- והעמיד הכהן את־האשה לפני יהוה ופרע את־ראש האשה ונתן על־כפיה את מנחת הזכרון מנחת קנאת הוא וביד הכהן יהיו מי המרים המאררים׃
- והשביע אתה הכהן ואמר אל־האשה אם־לא שכב איש אתך ואם־לא שטית טמאה תחת אישך הנקי ממי המרים המאררים האלה׃
- ואת כי שטית תחת אישך וכי נטמאת ויתן איש בך את־שכבתו מבלעדי אישך׃
- והשביע הכהן את־האשה בשבעת האלה ואמר הכהן לאשה יתן יהוה אותך לאלה ולשבעה בתוך עמך בתת יהוה את־ירךך נפלת ואת־בטנך צבה׃
- ובאו המים המאררים האלה במעיך לצבות בטן ולנפל ירך ואמרה האשה אמן אמן׃
- וכתב את־האלת האלה הכהן בספר ומחה אל־מי המרים׃
- והשקה את־האשה את־מי המרים המאררים ובאו בה המים המאררים למרים׃
- ולקח הכהן מיד האשה את מנחת הקנאת והניף את־המנחה לפני יהוה והקריב אתה אל־המזבח׃
- וקמץ הכהן מן־המנחה את־אזכרתה והקטיר המזבחה ואחר ישקה את־האשה את־המים׃
- והשקה את־המים והיתה אם־נטמאה ותמעל מעל באישה ובאו בה המים המאררים למרים וצבתה בטנה ונפלה ירכה והיתה האשה לאלה בקרב עמה׃
- ואם־לא נטמאה האשה וטהרה הוא ונקתה ונזרעה זרע׃
- זאת תורת הקנאת אשר תשטה אשה תחת אישה ונטמאה׃
- או איש אשר תעבר עליו רוח קנאה וקנא את־אשתו והעמיד את־האשה לפני יהוה ועשה לה הכהן את כל־התורה הזאת׃
- ונקה האיש מעון והאשה ההוא תשא את־עונה׃ ף

- Præcipe filiis Israël, ut ejiciant de castris omnem leprosum, et qui semine fluit, pollutusque est super mortuo :
- tam masculum quam feminam ejicite de castris, ne contaminent ea cum habitaverint vobiscum.
- Feceruntque ita filii Israël, et ejecerunt eos extra castra, sicut locutus erat Dominus Moysi.
- Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen, dicens :
- Loquere ad filios Israël : Vir, sive mulier, cum fecerint ex omnibus peccatis, quæ solent hominibus accidere, et per negligentiam transgressi fuerint mandatum Domini, atque deliquerint,
- confitebuntur peccatum suum, et reddent ipsum caput, quintamque partem desuper, ei in quem peccaverint.
- Sin autem non fuerit qui recipiat, dabunt Domino, et erit sacerdotis, excepto ariete, qui offertur pro expiatione, ut sit placabilis hostia.
- Omnes quoque primitiæ, quas offerunt filii Israël, ad sacerdotem pertinent :
- et quidquid in sanctuarium offertur a singulis, et traditur manibus sacerdotis, ipsius erit.

- Loquere ad filios Israël, et dices ad eos : Vir cujus uxor erraverit, maritumque contemnens
- dormierit cum altero viro, et hoc maritus deprehendere non quiverit, sed latet adulterium, et testibus argui non potest, quia non est inventa in stupro :
- si spiritus zelotypiæ concitaverit virum contra uxorem suam, quæ vel polluta est, vel falsa suspicione appetitur :
- adducet eam ad sacerdotem, et offeret oblationem pro illa, decimam partem sati farinæ hordeaceæ : non fundet super eam oleum, nec imponet thus : quia sacrificium zelotypiæ est, et oblatio investigans adulterium.
- Offeret igitur eam sacerdos, et statuet coram Domino,
- assumetque aquam sanctam in vase fictili, et pauxillum terræ de pavimento tabernaculi mittet in eam.
- Cumque steterit mulier in conspectu Domini, discooperiet caput ejus, et ponet super manus illius sacrificium recordationis, et oblationem zelotypiæ : ipse autem tenebit aquas amarissimas, in quibus cum execratione maledicta congessit.
- Adjurabitque eam, et dicet : Si non dormivit vir alienus tecum, et si non polluta es deserto mariti throno, non te nocebunt aquæ istæ amarissimæ, in quas maledicta congessi.
- Sin autem declinasti a viro tuo, atque polluta es, et concubuisti cum altero viro :
- his maledictionibus subjacebis : det te Dominus in maledictionem, exemplumque cunctorum in populo suo : putrescere faciat femur tuum, et tumens uterus tuus disrumpatur.
- Ingrediantur aquæ maledictæ in ventrem tuum, et utero tumescente putrescat femur. Et respondebit mulier : Amen, amen.
- Scribetque sacerdos in libello ista maledicta, et delebit ea aquis amarissimis, in quas maledicta congessit,
- et dabit ei bibere. Quas cum exhauserit,
- tollet sacerdos de manu ejus sacrificium zelotypiæ, et elevabit illud coram Domino, imponetque illud super altare, ita dumtaxat ut prius :
- pugillum sacrificii tollat de eo, quod offertur, et incendat super altare : et sic potum det mulieri aquas amarissimas.
- Quas cum biberit, si polluta est, et contempto viro adulterii rea, pertransibunt eam aquæ maledictionis, et inflato ventre, computrescet femur : eritque mulier in maledictionem, et in exemplum omni populo.
- Quod si polluta non fuerit, erit innoxia, et faciet liberos.
- Ista est lex zelotypiæ. Si declinaverit mulier a viro suo, et si polluta fuerit,
- maritusque zelotypiæ spiritu concitatus adduxerit eam in conspectu Domini, et fecerit ei sacerdos juxta omnia quæ scripta sunt :

- And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

- Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell.
- And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.
- And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
- Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;
- Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.
- But if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, let the trespass be recompensed unto the LORD, even to the priest; beside the ram of the atonement, whereby an atonement shall be made for him.
- And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his.
- And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.
- And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
- Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,
- And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
- And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:
- Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.
- And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD:
- And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:
- And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:
- And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:
- But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:
- Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;
- And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.
- And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:
- And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
- Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar:

- And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.
- And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
- This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;
- Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.
- Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.
